The Associated
Press has been reporting that China's Nanjing Automotive Group
signed a 33 year lease for the factory site of MG Rover Group.
The deal is reported to be better than unions and local
lawmakers had hoped for. Nanjing's chairman Wang Hongbiao is
quoted as saying, "This means that we can move forward with our
business plan to build cars at Longbridge". Unions were reported
to be unhappy when Nanjing won the bidding race for Rover
because it appeared to offer
dimmer prospects for resuming full-scale production at
Longbridge than rival offers from China's state-owned SAIC and
British businessman David James. The new lease covers two car
assembly plants, the paint shop and administrative offices on
105 acres of the 469-acre site in Birmingham. |

52 Margot.
We bought this amazingly lovely,
richly patinated & altogether simply adorable liitle Classic
British Roadster in Palm Desert, California. "Margot" as Molly
immediately named her, was on Craig's List, which fairly
recently opened up a Palm Springs section, yet to be as crowded
with spam offers of free BMWs with advertising on them, and
postings for everything else, as the more metropolitan
Californian cities sections. more inside....

Phil Wicks is a driver of
extraordinary experience.
He started his career during the dawn of modern motorsport era
in the 50's and early 60's. He shared the track with legendary
names in their early careers. But Phil Wicks has not retired as the
majority of drivers of his time have done. On the contrary, he
has not even slowed much. He now enters his 50th year of his motorsport
career with the opening of his "Phil Wicks MINI
Driving Academy." more inside....

Now that British Euphoria is
out of the gates, it is only
fitting and proper to announce that 'Tara', our Old
English white E-type/XKE, becomes the Ultimate British Driving
Machine for British Euphoria. This feline Jag has, to many of
us, been always the ultimate Roadster. Always. Dreamed of,
thought about, sought after and perhaps finally owned by a few,
this automobile, as a work of art, as an epitome of British
craft & design, as a simple Thing Of Beauty, is a veritable
feast for every sense we possess. Sleek, curvaceous, organic;
saying - I just want to run and run and run, and with long gears
I'll go to 140 and purr just like a kitten...

Well, we had a great time in
Idyllwild. Now let me explain….There were not a lot of British
cars at our first event, but to put the spin on it - it was
better that way. You could get to know people a little better.
Justin Jurgens and Michelle of British Sports Cars,
www.britishsportscars.com, drove from San Luis Obisbo in an
Astin Martin DB7 and everyone wanted to drive back with him! The
'52 MGTD did great, although always under 60 MPH. Back to the
way driving was…
As a matter of fact we had one person pay $ 140 at a Charity
Auction just to ride in the TD! The money went to the Idyllwild
Arts Scholarship fund. We had a couple of E-Types, which always
catch the eye, (including our very own 'Tara' of course) and a
few new Jag XK8's and an XJ8 to round out the field. There were
no Bentleys, but we did let a couple of Porsches sneak in at the
back. They know their place.
The Inland Empire Jaguar Club met us on the drive at the aptly
named Paradise Corner Café, and we're all planning some other
good times together. Our thanks to The Fern Valley Inn and to
Café Aroma for their support. We look forward to many other
get-togethers on the hill and around Southern California. Justin
has invited British Euphoria to organize a road trip to his
place in SLO and a picnic at the beach….interested??
